The S1 is available in several body styles with signal conditioning and connector options for pro audio, test equipment, compact recorders, or passive use.

Type

Standard body

Great for hanging the hydrophone from its cable.

Smooth exterior minimizes flow noise and gas bubble entrapment.

Weighted standard body

Great for hanging the hydrophone from its cable.

The added 150g weight helps sink the assembly and minimize cable noise. The weight can be positioned anywhere along the cable length.

Threaded body

Great for mounting the hydrophone to a panel, housing, or conduit.

M10-1.5 nylon retaining nut and nitrile O-ring included.

Note: If the cable must pass through the hole, choose the connector (or a modified termination) with routing in mind. Most connectors are larger in diameter than the M10 mounting hole.

Any body type can be combined with any signal conditioning and connector type.

Signal conditioning and connector

Additional connector types may be available for specialized applications, including dry-mate connectors from Blue Trail Engineering, wet-mate connectors from SubConn, Switchcraft circular connectors, and other OEM-specific connectors. Contact us with your equipment requirements for pricing and lead time.

Custom cable length

S1 can be customized up to 300 meters. Longer is possible but please inquire to discuss your application. Long cables can affect high-frequency response, especially with passive configurations or high-frequency measurement. Consider cable capacitance, input impedance, signal conditioning, and required bandwidth.

Custom cable Type

CA-53 is standard for all models except phantom-power S1e, which uses CA-70.  Some alternative combinations are possible, please inquire to discuss your application.

Receive Voltage Sensitivity

The receive voltage sensitivity and directional response charts are derived from calibration data provided by the U.S. Navy Underwater Sound Reference Division calibration labs at Newport. S1e, S1f, and S1i performance plots are derived from the S1n response combined with the corresponding amplifier response.

Directional Response

“Horizontal” refers to sound originating from directions perpendicular to the lay of the hydrophone cable. For additional technical detail, see the USRD notes.
